while trolling through trendalicious, i found this neat page from the village of joy.

it describes life in north korea with some nice pics and interesting facts. it provides an insight that many people dispute. still, i wouldn’t mind going and checking it out myself. find the page here.

leon clarke scored a goal in each half as sheffield wednesday stunned promotion hopefuls, leceister city, 2-0 at hillsborough overnight. with nearly 22,000 people packed into the old stadium, the owls made a bid to escape the relegation zone, keeping the foxes at bay for most of the contest.

clarke opened the scoring with only six minutes gone. darren potter slipped in a through ball and clarke finished it with a smart drive into the top corner. clarke’s second came just after the hour. the striker finished a nice play that started with marcus tudgay and finished with jermaine johnson’s cross, neatly dispatched by clarke.

the win puts the owls in 22nd place, currently even with 21st-placed crystal palace. it’s the whopping minus- 17 goals against differential that is worrying. they need to start winning to reach safety.

tsunami spread

here’s an image that shows the expected ocean movement, most likely a tsunami, coming from the chilean earthquake that occurred on the weekend. it measured 8.5 on the richter scale. that’s pretty massive. australia is not expected to see much result from the tsunami. it looks as though new zealand will get a bit, but it is more likely to come from undercurrents and rips rather than a full-blown tsunami wave.

the less said about about this game the better. the owls traveled to madejski stadium, trying to lift themselves from the relegation battle. However, five goals and insipid attack later, they limped out no better in their struggles than before the game.

they were able to hold out for almost the entire first half. but three minutes before half time, the dam broke, with jimmy kebe got his first of two goals for the day. the owls couldn’t staunch the flow and the goals kept coming after the break. gzregorz rasiak got one after the break, then simon church got his first. rasiak got his second, and kebe rounded off the scoring, completing his brace.

at least reading’s aussie keeper, adam federici, played well, coming away with a clean sheet.

a big day out but not that one

headed out with my mate peter to check out the soundwave music festival yesterday. it was mainly a rock line up, headlined by the main man, mike patton, and the newly-reformed faith no more. other headliners included jane’s addiction (pictured above… badly), placebo and afi.

fnm were, of course, awesome. jane’s and placebo were decent. afi weren’t flash and poor old jimmy eat world sucked hard. other highlights included great sets from glassjaw and comeback kid.

note to self: don’t be late to the movie. you end up sitting down the front and having a headache and bloodshot eyes for the rest of the day.

note to self: don’t go to see a movie in ipswich. not only do you have to shell out $25 for a ticket and refreshments, but the yobbos that constantly talk will just annoy the piss out of you.

the movies itself was not so flash either. a bunch of no names in the lead roles and some cameos that looked like they must be strapped for cash. having said that, maybe i’m just lashing out because i couldn’t see properly.
