i’ve just spent the last two days in hospital as a kidney stone decided it wanted out. the bad news for me was that the stone in question was about 3mm in diameter. much larger than my urethra could possible handle. so wednesday arvo, after coming back from the school camp (omg that’s a completely different story), i felt pretty tired and crappy. wednesday night i felt like my insides wanted to be outside. inyoung bravely drove my moaning arse to ipswich where, after being given some sweet fuzzy drugs, i found a bed at the ipswich hospital.

almost two days of morphine-induced numbness followed as the battle between drugs and stone was fought tooth and nail. the clear victor being vomit in the early exchanges as any attempts to flush the stone out with water or oral medicine were quickly repelled. as a last (why not first?) resort, an iv drip was inserted and the stone was quickly washed away, sweeping in relief and tiredness. i came home this afternoon. my face is pretty puffy, i’m guessing from the drugs i’ve constantly been taking and the two days of not moving much in bed. there’s still a larger stone inside the kidney, roughly 14mm x 11mm. it’s a whopper…

inyoung and i were at south bank enjoying the autumn breeze when we stumbled upon something that completely slipped my mind: buddha’s birthday festival! for the last three years i’ve made my way down and had a look around, camera in tow. this time, i’d completely forgotten about it and didn’t have anything with me. we did make time to walk around and have a look. i bathed the buddha and said some prayers. the weather was pretty overcast and bright, making it pretty shitty for shooting anyway. i’m pissed that i forgot but i’ll try and remember for next year.
