wise words to inspire. not sure about the authenticity of it all but it is sure a good analogy.
friday was spent in pain in hospital as my kidney decided it wanted to play up. after a 2am rush to hospital, i was put on a drip and given some nice pethidine. mm fuzzy…
i had a ct scan later that morning. as a result, the doctor recommends that i have a partial nephrectomy. that would be taking the kidney out. partial because it is not removing the whole system of both kidneys, nodes and stuff. this will be happening this week.
what does it all mean?? well, for one, the trip to korea is off. no work. no inyoung, for a while. i’ve cancelled the ticket and contacted smoe (seoul metropolitan office of education) to let them know i’m not coming. i’ll be interested to see if they kick up a stink. let them, i say. my health comes first. and yeah, i wanna blow a couple thousand of dollars, not to come.
as for my work here. well, it’s gone as well. i finished on friday, when i was in hospital. i didn’t even get to spend the day with my class. but i will be going to school on monday to return my laptop and key. maybe i’ll get to talk to the principal. we’ll see…
the whole situation is a little surreal to me at the moment. i knew it was coming sooner or later. but i did think it wouldn’t happen for a few years. mum rightly noted that it was better to happen now, rather than later when i got to korea. inyoung said she thought it was a sign that i wasn’t supposed to go. i dunno. but now i have no job, no money and i’m about to lose a pound of flesh. shylock must be sniggering to himself somewhere.
everything is almost set for the korea move. the interviews, the applications, the dashes into the city to get notary publics, late evening calls to get signatures from a justice of the peace (thanks mr buttner) and frantic running around and a hell of a lot of swearing.
got my visa today. now i can start packing in earnest. still not really sure i’ll fit everything i need in the suitcase. i may need to send another box. i’ll just add that one to the five i’ve already sent.
4 days to go!
on my daily trolling spree i chanced upon this gem of an online comic. written and illustrated by elan rodger trinidad, this little ditty is a well constructed tale that shows the futility of some modern thinking. check it out at theory of everything comics.

and this is why i love j scott campbell… news today that disney is pitching ideas for a live-action cinderella remake. yeah, i don’t give a shit… but there was a gallery from the aforementioned campbell, doing his own versions of disney’s leading ladies. i followed campbell a lot during the 1990′s. i loved comic books like gen 13 and, especially, danger girl. check out snow white, above, and her friends at the gallery.
upload your photo and have a go at slapstick. it’s only for the washington capitals, but that’s ok.
<insert entry about going back to hospital, ct scans, xrays, re-admissions, fuzzy drugs, excruciating pain, anaesthetics, doctor’s visits, bile, intense vomiting, stent removal/insertion, time off work, dizzy spells, cold sweats, more vomiting, bloody urine, theatre visits, needles, drips, cannulas, more vomiting and blood>
that’ll do…
naturally, i’m triptych2003… from a game on chess.com
