Rubber Chicken’s Dojo

after a busy week last week, inyoung and i decided to get out and about. we went and saw mazz and gazz before heading to garden city shopping centre for some retail therapy. well, therapy for inyoung. i didn’t get much, oh wait, i got an xbox game which i’ve only played once so far. money well spent.

sunday morning we headed out early and got coffee and breakfast at southbank before heading to the cinema to see batman: the dark knight. i’ll be honest and say i was pretty underwhelmed by it. it could have been the hype that has surrounded it but i didn’t feel jacked like i did after seeing iron man, or even mongol. i’ve never really been a fan of batman as such. his brooding got annoying really quickly. “just get over it already!” i was glad when the punisher kicked his arse in the cross-over edition a few years back. the late heath ledger’s performance is again over-hyped. he does a good job but i don’t think it’s oscar nomination worthy. the popcorn was hit too. just thought i’d mention it.

off into the city and we got inyoung some sweet sneakers and i picked up a puma jumper for 50 bucks. a pretty darn good weekend overall.

i took inyoung to her first broncos game last weekend. it just happened to be against my boys, the cronulla-sutherland sharks. i last saw the sharks play when i was 13 years old. we lost then, and we lost this night too. although the game was a lot closer, broncos up 18-12. we were up in the nosebleeds again but at least it was pretty cheap. cold as heck but a pretty good night all-round.

the dojo has a new look for now too. dave set up some new add-ons on wordpress and one of them happens to be a nifty drag and drop theme thingy. so now i can change my themes on a whim. not that i feel very whimsical at the best of times… it’ll do for now.

things are starting to get pretty hectic. i’ve signed on to do an ict pedagogical license, which basically just means that i’m able to use ict within the classroom and make it align with the outcomes set out in the department’s essential learnings. there is a pretty heavy set of criteria for passing this thing, but i think the unit of work i’m doing will give me a good chance of getting through it. now my every waking moment is going to be used up trying to sort this shit out. it’s only done this term. my first teleconference will be done tomorrow. oh joy!

inyoung spent this weekend with her friend down at the gold coast, leaving me to my own devices. that was her first mistake. i spent saturday lazing around, playing nhl, goffing off and eating donuts by the half-dozen. i also spent some time chatting to dave, then headed into the city. i bought a electronic tuner for my ukulele. yes, i have a ukulele. i don’t know squat about music but with four strings and some practice or some shit, i might be able to become useless, rather than clueless. we’ll see how it goes. i’ll post some shots when i get time.

for the last few days, the server has been having a spack attack. that basically means i could not write about all the nothing i’ve been doing for the last few days. oh well. dave has been talking about relocating servers again. finding something more stable. i’d tend to agree. 60 hours of downtime is just way too long and stupid.

i’m not usually one for personality tests and such but this one was pretty cool in its construction. they used these slide bars and 4-axis graphs and buckets… all flair no content type stuff. anyway, the results are in and they are quite… puzzling. i have low masculinity and low femininity. how does that work? i must be quite androgynous. oh well….

inyoung and i went to visit her friend at the gold coast yesterday. her friend happens to be married with a nine-month old kid. this kid also happens to have a cold. who did the kid like to play with all bloody afternoon? me! so now i got a frickin cold. pain in the arse… throat to be exact. and nose and head… awesome. and by awesome i mean shit

i celebrated the end of semester with a bit of a splurge on friday. i met inyoung in the city for lunch, followed by shopping. big w have been having a huge end of financial year sale, so i got myself an xbox 360. it’s only an arcade edition, which means there’s no hard-drive and it doesn’t come pimped out. but that’s cool cos i only want it for games and i don’t plan on using it online. it also came with five free games(pac-man, uno and some other shit i haven’t bothered checking out), which is also neat. i did buy some other sweet, yet cheap games too: assassin’s creed, fifa 07 and nhl 08. that should keep me busy for a while.
